The Gaffelière's Blank Check
"Freer than ever", the son of Léo de Malet dares heresy at the temple of classicism: to offer, in rare bottles, a white chardonnay, which he had cultivated discreetly for several years. A plot of 70 ares, no more, taken from the native reds. These chardonnays growing along tall stakes have the appearance of sans culottes in the kingdom of merlot.
Vinified with great care in the Burgundian tradition of advanced extraction, intended to give flesh, matured with skill in large Austrian tuns (Stockinger for connoisseurs), this G de La Gaffelière, a unique wine whose first episode is an alliance of two harvests, 2020 and 2021, impresses with the delicacy of its structure, serrated, and the airy voluptuousness of its white flower aromas.
It is the distinguished elegance of this beautiful limestone terroir that has made the reputation of La Gaffelière, a château also capable of producing tasty, more clayey reds from the foot of the slope, such as the Clos La Gaffelière 2019, full of brilliance.
